Consumer
Health Complete
(CHC) is a
comprehensive resource for consumer-oriented health content. It is designed to
support patients' information needs and foster an overall understanding of
health-related topics. Information provided in this database should not be viewed as a
means for self-diagnosis or a substitute for professional medical advice,
diagnosis or treatment.
Getting
Started
- Access
from outside a library requires a username and password. Contact your
academic, public, or school librarian for the login information.
Searching
- On the CHC Home Page, enter your search terms in the Find
field and click Search. A drop down box offers related terms.
- Other Search Features on the Home Page

Quick Find provides easy access to health reports
on common diseases, conditions, and injuries.
o
Browse Popular Sources offers browsing and searching of
several popular encyclopedias and health-related reference books.
o
Search by Topic provides the ability to search
within the database by topic.
Your Search Results
- Consumer
Health Complete displays a result List sorted by "source
type"--for example, Encyclopedias, Reference Books, etc. If
available, Evidence-Based Reports is the default tab. To view a different
source type, click the appropriate tab.
- The article title link takes you to the citation
information and/or the full text. This page also offers opportunities to
narrow results by subject or publication.
Printing/E-mailing/Saving Search
Results

To save an
article to the Folder, click the Add to Folder link. To view the items in your
Folder, click the Go to Folder View link.
- To save your results for
future use, be sure to sign in to your personal account (Click on Sign
In ). Once you sign in, your results are saved to the Folder, and can
be retrieved at any time.
- From the Citation
or the Folder view, click the Print ,
E-mail ,
or Save icon
and follow the directions on the screen. You can print, e-mail or save several
results at the same time by saving them to the Folder, and then printing,
e-mailing or saving all at once.
How to Use Help

To view the Help
System, click the Help link at the top right corner of the screen.

When the Help
link appears, you can click the link and help for the screen you are
on will display.
